A&W Malaysia is bringing back the nostalgic days of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s when funk, soul and disco ruled the airwaves, by investing about RM1 million in a retro-themed outlet. Featuring a modern take on chic retro design, complete with booths, bar seats and a juke box, A&W Malaysia aims for this Instagram-worthy store to offer diners a nostalgic ambience.

Established in 1963, the A&W franchise is the first in the country, with the first outlet set up in the very heart of Kuala Lumpur at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. This was followed in 1965 by the first Drive-in restaurant in Petaling Jaya.

A&W Malaysia has since spread to all corners of the country, serving up its signature RB drink, Coneys, Chicken and Curly fries, Waffle, as well as a vast selection of Burgers.

The franchise was acquired by Inter Mark Resources Sdn Bhd in September 2018 and is well on its way to a fast-tracked expansion. To date, A&W Malaysia Sdn Bhd has outlets located across Peninsular Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Perak, Pahang, Penang, Kedah and Terengganu).
